Oh Canada! It seems like the only people that are still selling
horses are our neighbors to the north. Occasionally, they
even have one that is priced fairly, and that's when we buy!
Our newest purchase is a
4 year old pacing gelding named GETTHEPARTYSTARTED. He is by Breeders Crown champion GOLIATH BAYAMA ($1,509,163 1:48.1s) out of the
Run The Table mare Party On N On. This is a good family of
speedy horses with lots of money earned, like Party N Get Lucky
($337,342 1:52.1s), Party Stop ($248,094 1:50.1), Go Lightly
($242,666 1:53.4f), and Family Circle ($106,940 1:52.2).
GETTHEPARTYSTARTED is a half mile track specialist who has been racing
and winning on the bull rings up in Canada. He's in the
midst of a very good 2009 campaign, racing only on half mile
tracks and picking up 5 wins from just 17 starts and $33,062
in earnings (despite racing for pretty small purses). His
Lifetime record of 8 wins from just 37 starts is a 22% win rate!
Another stat we like to look at is how often a horse picks up
purse checks, and GETTHEPARTYSTARTED had earned 15 checks in 17 races in
2009,and he is 22 for 26 since racing exclusively on
the half (starting in April 2008).
This sound gelding comes to VIP from the barn of Ontario trainer
Patrick Hunt. He won the 2001 Breeders Crown with 2yo
trotter Liberty Balance, but only trains a few at any one time the
past several years - in fact he hasn't reached 100 starts in a
year since 2004. Mr. Hunt is an older gentleman, but from all
accounts, a good horseman who gives his horses
excellent care and is a GREAT person to buy from.
As
you can probably guess, we purchased this half mile loving 4
year old specifically to race at Yonkers. Now that he's 5,
we'll spot him at both Yonkers and The BigM.
Joe DeCarlo will train GETTHEPARTYSTARTED. Joe has been
putting up solid numbers for VIP at Yonkers and should be a
perfect fit for this guy.
