I am not exaggerating one bit when I tell you I have looked at EVERY racing program in the US this month in search of a decent horse to claim or buy - and NOTHING!!!!  I even looked at the $1,000 claimers in Michigan – yes $1 grand claimers.  With the available horses so ridiculously thin, it is obviously time to head back to New Zealand for our next big horse! 

Our agent down under has strongly recommended and we have purchased LIVE BASICALLY.  He is a 5 year old gelding (turning 6 New Year's Day) by LIVE OR DIE with a career record of 25-4-3-2 $31,098.  He is rapidly improving with 2 wins in his last 3 starts, including an impressive 2 length win on Dec 28^th - check out the video below.

 LIVE BASICALLY comes from a solid family.  His Sire LIVE OR DIE leads all NZ pacing stallions in both wins and purse earnings this year and lead in both categories last season as well! He has also sired many impressive imports to the US like EWIE DUNCAN N ($239,523 1:49.0), MIRACLE MAN N ($312,960 1:50), and an entire heard of other solid performers. 

There are solid results on his dam's side as well.  Full brother BOLD CRUISER (53-7-10-6 $53,178) was a very successfull export to Australia.  The 2nd dam, PORT MEDLEY produced 6 sub 2:00 winners including multiple stakes winner LIVELY MEDLEY (34-20-2-2 $142,286) who won 15 straight races in Australia (also sired by LIVE OR DIE, so a 3/4 brother to our horse).

 “Live Basically is a smart horse, He has won on all size tracks and while we don’t have one mile tracks  -- except on the grass -- he is good enough to be at the Meadowlands.  This horse is DEFINITELY worth the money and I can see him racing on for several years in the US.  He is a tough horse!  Better than Mr. Chin - a tougher horse. LB would be between JJ Thomas N and Nicky Hanover N -- not quite as good as Nicky Hanover who I rate very highly.   

 We will follow the same path with LIVE BASICALLY as our other successful imports - Greg Trotto will get him acclimated, trained down, and an easy race or two.  We'll then assess the best racing opportunities for him and place him accordingly.  With the ability to get around any size track, we can put him wherever the best racing opportunities are!
